The Puffin
Spring 2020
For the team project in my Engineering Graphics course, I designed and modelled part of an amphibious vehicle called The Puffin. I was tasked with modelling the propeller assembly, forming the final product, and managing the structure of the group's files, report, and presentation. I modelled the assembly in SolidWorks.

We began by defining the scope of the project, and then divided up the different sections of the assembly plan among the team members. Each member had to draw out, model, and produce technical drawings of each part they were assigned. Once all the parts were modelled, I combined them into one large SolidWorks assembly. Afterwards, we compiled the necessary information into the report and created the presentation. The report and presentation contain more details regarding the different parts and drawings our group completed.

Because COVID-19 hit right around the beginning of the project, learning to communicate effectively online was essential for our group's success. In addition, by the nature of my assigned parts, I did some research into propeller blade designs and the strengths/drawbacks of each kind. I also learned a great deal about group project organization, coordination, and scope, and I was able to further develop my skills in SolidWorks.
