Bike Rear Light Attachment

Personal Project — November 2020

As a biker on the streets of Atlanta, it's wise to have a rear light. Prior to this project, my rear light was dangling from a cheap silicone band off the back of my bike's cargo rack. I didn't find that adequate, so for this project, I made a more permanent solution. I modelled the part in SolidWorks and printed it on an Ultimaker 3 in PLA.

I started off by deciding the best possible location, and taking a couple of essential measurements. I sketched a rough solution, and began modelling. I printed 3 iterations, and made small adjustments along the way as necessary. The final product, with a video demonstration of functionality shown below, worked seamlessly.

Throughout this project, I continued to refine my abilities to model and tolerance effectively. I also might want to replace my tires, because they seem to be a bit worn out.
